Understanding FASD
0%
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is estimated to affect 3.64% of the Australian population, meaning it is likely that there is one child with FASD in every Australian classroom. However, as FASD is often underdiagnosed, many educators may not be aware that they are interacting daily with students who have undiagnosed or misdiagnosed FASD.
This module is designed to help teaching and support staff understand FASD and how it may present in the school environment. The information will assist teaching and support staff to recognise a student displaying difficulties consistent with FASD and understand why students with FASD may need tailored support to better engage in learning.
The resources in this module include:
- What is FASD?
- FASD in adolescence
- FASD in a school environment
